Handmade: Made specially for Pan Tree by carpenter Morné Pretorius, based in Heidelberg Western cape. Each piece of wood is individually assembled and laminated before being sanded down and sealed with a food-friendly mineral oil and beeswax blend. A groove on the one side of the board catches and collects any juices.
Antibacterial Properties: Because pine wood contains tannic acid, released when the wood is cut or scratched, it has natural antibacterial properties. Pine wood has proven to be particularly effective at stopping bacterial growth and killing germs.
Wooden Cutting Board Care: Wooden cutting boards should preferably be cleaned and washed by hand, with warm water and a bit of dish soap. Prevent soaking the wood for prolonged periods as water is not wood's best friend and can discolour or warp the wood over time. For a thorough deep-clean, scrub the board with coarse salt and half a lemon. Apply a food-grade mineral oil regularly to keep the wood's colour looking great and to prolong the life of your cutting board.
